The Berlin 88 : INT MEETING ROOM DAY

INT MEETING ROOMDAY
We can see Holly still lying down on the couch

ANDERSON
OK, it’s great that you’re all here. This will be the first meeting before the expedition sets out. Dr. Williams, Dr. Johnson, I’d like to introduce you to Dr. Vicky Churchill.

Fred walks by

WILLIAMS
Yes. Yes.

VICKY CHURCHiLL
It’s a pleasure. I’ve heard so much.

ANDERSON
Uh, so, we’re not really going to discuss anything scientific here. This is more of a getting to know each other for the summer expedition.

JOHNSON
Anyway. Say, who wants to becannibalized.

VICKY CHURCHiLL
What?

WILLIAMS
How about Doctor Johnson?

JOHNSON
Care to explain?

WILLIAMS
You gained quite a lot of weight, my good man.

JOHNSON
Fair, but Dr. Churchill is new.

ANDERSON
Can’t see anything wrong with that logic.

VICKY CHURCHiLL
Hi. What’s going on here? This conversation seems to have taken a very dark turn.

ANDERSON
Well, you see, every expedition we have got lost, and eventually we have to eat somebody.

VICKY CHURCHiLL
What if we just don’t eat anybody?

EVERYBODY
Oh, ho.

WILLIAMS
Well, let me tell you young woman, that is most unorthodox. You do not go changing years of tradition.

JOHNSON
I have eaten over ten people, and are you saying that was unnecessary? My father ate people, his father ate people, and his father was a poet. I will not live in a world where scientific expeditions do not end in cannibalism.

VICKY CHURCHiLL
We’re just going to study trout. The hotel’s ten minutes away.

ANDERSON
Of course, but there’s a good chance our plane could crash, and we could be taken in by the natives.

VICKY CHURCHiLL
We’re going to Maine.

JOHNSON
There could be savages in Maine. I’ve personally, eaten five.

VICKY CHURCHiLL
I”m leaving.

Dr. Churchill starts to get up.

ANDERSON
See how far you go in Ichthyology!

Dr. Churchill sits down.

VICKY CHURCHiLL
How about Dr. Johnson?
